Pierre Eyewear

Summer is the season to relish wearing colours that relate to nature – the luscious blue of the sky, the white froth of an ocean wave, the green variations of gardens and trees.  Pierre Eyewear translates some of nature’s bounty into a stylish white acetate design, highlighted with tones of aqua and turquoise.  The rectangle shape is graceful and easy to wear. Handmade in France, and always produced to his exacting standards, Pierre believes that eyewear should be fun, as well as functional. Available at Optique des Entrepreneurs in Paris. www.pierre-eyewear.com JG

Patty – the P-series

Grotesque Frame KG

I first discovered Grotesque eyewear at SILMO several years ago, and thought what a creative collection. A short while later, I was choosing glasses at one of my favourite Parisian boutiques – Les Créateurs d’Opta in Montmartre. Optician Annette Hoffmann showed me a Grotesque design that was a “must have” , and I still enjoying wear it. The newest designs include the P-series, with Patty shown above. Transparent acetate is engraved with patterns on the frame front, achieved with superfine CNC-milling tools.  The frame captures light beautifully.  It’s available  in four candy colours – including the glossy pink featured – plus black. Grotesque recently opened their unique shop in Germany, housed in two sea containers  (Eyestylist 5 May 2011). Grotesque frames are also available at Créateurs d’Opta www.opta-createurs.com and Auerbach & Steele in London www.auerbach-steele.com.  For more information, see www.grotesque-frame.com JG

Seaside Inspirations

The Sea and Beyond

1st July 2011 Fashion trends in clothing and eyewear this season look to the sea, and its inspirational surroundings for beautiful colours. We’ve spotted some lovely frames – both in sunglasses and ophthalmic collections – featuring the harmony and moods of the sea, sand and foliage. (Image above: FAB Photos). The colours are very fresh and cool, and they look great with a suntan! Lotho, the Paris based brand, celebrates deep ocean tones in this transparent acetate frame in bold blue and crystal.

Polly 5 by Lotho

I discovered this frame, Polly 5,  when I visited the Lotho showroom in Paris, and loved not only the wonderful colour, but the flattering shape and fit.  Lotho frames are handmade in Japan, with superb craftsmanship.www.lotho.fr JG

Meanwhile we have also identified  this Dior frame above, named Tahuata which has graduated blue to purple lenses and a matching greeny blue sea-inspired frame. An unusual aviator but it’s bang on trend for S/S 2011 and perfect for Mediterranean island hopping. (Visit www.dior.com). CN
