Tara

Pierre Eyewear

Crystal is making a welcome return to frame designs – with its 1960’s flair that transcends the decades. Tara by Pierre Cariven at Pierre Eyewear, features a nose bridge decoratively accented in black, and the cat eye shape is a forever favourite. Handmade in France in the Jura, Tara is also available in a stunning colour range – including red, tortoise, black, cream and a lively orange sorbet – each with a contrasting nose bridge colour accent. www.pierre-eyewear.com JG

Miela

Vera Wang

At Silmo, Clodagh and I were impressed with the sunglass collection by fashion and eyewear designer Vera Wang. Shown above is Miela – in three stunning variations. Italian acetates team with stainless steel – in a black and gold version; plus orange and cream; and my favourite, crystal with cappuccino. The distinctive nose bridge accent is a stainless steel metal clip. Handmade in Italy, the frames are chic and elegant – like Vera’s sought after clothing designs! www.kenmarkooptical.com JG

Largo

Lesca Lunetier

It was really a pleasure to rediscover Lesca Eyewear and catch up with Joel Lesca and his son Mathieu at the shows this autumn. The collection is authentic vintage, crafted in France, using century old traditions of handwork to achieve luxurious frames. Largo (above) in the colour Tokyo, is a compilation of all that Lesca does so well – gorgeous, superior quality acetate, in a wonderful retro shape –  and a Limited Edition. Mylon RX

Mykita’s Mylon material has gained much praise for its lightness, adjustability and design potential. No surprise then that they have launched Mykita Mylon spectacles, which have thinner rims than you would expect (if you’ve seen the sunglasses) and to the touch, feel soft and smooth. The colour that stands out in my view is Ocean Blue (centre, above, named Pantara), but this material also has a strong fashion feel in Pitch Black and the more unusual Racing Green www.mykita.com CN

Portofino by Alain Mikli

Unconventional shapes are in and this one shows that if you combine that with crazy colours and patterns, you can achieve something very unique indeed. Mikli’s Portofino is a Limited Edition series that goes for bold statement style and colour in acetate. Described as “sweet and fruity” by the company, each design combines pearly opaline, a combination of mother of pearl and colour that catches the light, and turquoise, anis, pink, or purple! A colour cocktail! www.alainmikli.com CN
