Garrett Leight

Grey is really a trendy shade at the moment…so if you are tired of black, this is a tone to try out. The example I’ve picked here is an acetate sunglass style by the ever-so-cool Californian label, Garrett Leight (GLCO). The grey is graduated, from dark at the top to crystal lower down, with the effect that the frame is light and easy in its coloration on the face. Retro 50s and 60s is a strong part of the collection and there are lots of great classics with updated colourings (from crystal to tortoise and espresso). Another favourite of mine for this season is the girl’s catseye, Lucille in ivory gradient, a delight! In the UK, you can find GLCO at Adam Simmonds (London) and Seen (Manchester) http://garrettleight.com/. CN

Whipstitch tortoiseshell sunglasses

Burberry

This is an unusual frame by Burberry, featuring hand-stitched leather cord through the acetate frame and temples. The design is inspired by the Burberry Prorsum Spring/Summer 2012 ready-to-wear and accessories collections. The whipstitch detail comes in contrasting colours, such as the yellow and brown on tortoise pictured here. A statement piece, the attention to detail and desire to highlight the brand’s heritage is well represented here. The sunglasses are available from www.burberry.com, priced in the UK at £279.00. CN

Zoç Rose

Pierre Eyewear

“It’s fab!” said Clodagh – and it truly is – we love this deliciously flirtatious butterfly shape and the shimmering acetate Rose colour – one of this summer’s fashionable highlights. Experimental and exciting eyewear is the foundation of Pierre Cariven’s designed-and-made-in France creations. The frames are expertly crafted and feel great to wear. Vintage concept – modern interpretation – Zoç Rose is a summer stunner from Pierre Eyewear. www.pierre-eyewear.com JG

Los Santos, model Pilar

Theo by Tim Van Steenbergen

This collaboration never disappoints and always goes on my list of top styles. I love the imaginative use of colour by Tim Van Steenbergen, inspired by the Spanish fiestas. The fronts in acetate contrast with the plastic or metal temples. These amazing sunglasses are fitted with Zeiss sun lenses, a very high quality lens that gives serious protection for the eyes. Polarized lenses are also on offer in the collection. Pilar in pink has the exotic Spanish embroidery design on the upper temple and is fabulously feminine with its sensuous eyebrow curve. An oustanding fashion accessory, all the fun and comfort typical of Theo’s frames, wrapped up in great fashion from TVS! CN

Derome Brenner

Derome Brenner expresses the language of lines with luxurious refinement in this striking sunglass design. The voluminous shape with gentle curves and a cut out nosepiece in fine quality black acetate is further defined with linear tones of blue and cocoa. This is just one wonderful example of the handmade sun collection that Xavier Derome and Aurelia Brenner have created for 2012. More information at www.deromebrenner.com JG
