Jean-François Rey Le Cuir – JF2785- elegant, natural leathers

An elegant new collection – Jean-François Rey Le Cuir – is highlighted with beautiful natural leathers from select tanneries in Tuscany. The Marseille based brand – sold internationally – has launched frames with new shapes that are streamlined and stylish. The chic interplay of materials – as seen above in style JF2785 – is similar to a fine collage. Superb colourations in quality leather, plus vintage details, embellish the refined shapes. Made in Luxembourg: “3d” Impressio 202 (sneak peak)

Emmanuel Andrivet and Guillaume Boisson have been working in eyewear production for 20 years. Experience and interest in the creative opportunities in design has led them to launch their own company in Luxembourg – GameofFrame, with their own luxury “3d” printed eyewear brand – Impressio.

For the start of the year, the luxury collection offers 21 models (15 are opticals and six sunglasses, fitted with quality Zeiss or Divel lenses). Model 202 offered our first look at the styles – the frame features gold or palladium. Technical specifications include a  beta titanium temple and a titanium W nose and – notably – a weight of just 14 grams. Their unique concept is to explore a fusion of high technology and attentive craftsmanship, by means of complex 3D CAD modelling, new generation 3D additive manufacturing and  stamped titanium – a first mix of these particular design concepts and materials in luxury eyewear.

The traditional care and attention in the detail and finish of the styles (particularly the interesting “textured” surfaces) is made possible in the workshops in Luxembourg where the frames are hand assembled. “The focus is placed on three key principles,” say the founders. “It’s all about lightness – quality  – and – accuracy.”

Announced in October 2017, the collection was first previewed in Silmo, Paris last autumn and is now available through Meyrowitz in Paris, the luxury optician near Place Vendôme. This month, the Impressio founders Emmanuel and Guillaume will show their new models at Opti-Munich 2018 – the international trade fair in Germany. Find them in the Opti Boxes / Hall 1. For further information about the brand visit www.impressio-paris.com CN

Adaptive lenses: Transitions Fashion Chrome

Light-adaptive lenses have taken a new stylish direction thanks to Transitions Optical, who continue to innovate in this specialist area.

The Fashion Chrome collection – just launched ready for SS18 – has a striking mirrored effect combined with Transitions’ XTRActive lens technology – which protects the eyes from the brightest sun and harsh artificial light. It also allows the lenses to darken behind the windscreen of a car.

The lenses have an adaptive tint that reacts to UV and visible light, intensifying when the wearer moves outside. When indoors, the lens has a chic light mirrored tint, which turns into a full mirrored sunglass outdoors, allowing the wearer to have the right tint at the right time. Available in six fashion-forward colour options from Red Sunrise to Sea Green, the new Fashion Chrome lenses provide a tonal range that is striking, unique and fresh – representing an outstanding new opportunity to complement stylish designer eyewear.

Transitions Optical was founded in 1990. In 1991, it became the first company to commercialize and manufacture plastic photochromic lenses.

Transitions lenses are also called adaptive lenses. They are clear indoors and at night and automatically darken outdoors as light conditions change. They block 100% of UV rays and help to enhance contrast and reduce glare. Top image: the new Fashion Chrome lenses fitted in Woow Eyewear’s Super Star 1 – www.wooweyewear.com For more on Transitions on Eyestylisthttps://www.eyestylist.com/2017/06/transitions-style-colours-new-experience/  For more information: www.transitions.com CN
