rapp Eyewear

rapp Eyewear continues to produce creative avant-garde frame designs. A family business, led by Shilo Rapp, trained as a goldsmith, the frames have a unique handmade look and feature materials like titanium and Italian acetate – always with a distinctive finish. Francine caught our eye: the style is like all of Rapp’s designs made in the brand’s own production workshop in Toronto. The acetate material has a subtle striated pattern. The shape also boasts a fantastic bevelling effect which gives it lots of character.

Mutato

Mothersbaugh x Baum

Coming soon to very chic shops including Opening Ceremony and Eye Society! Mutato is one of the new styles from a collaborative line by Mark Mothersbaugh (front man for Devo and eyewear enthusiast) with eyewear designer Shane Baum. Bold and artistic, the frames are statement geometric designs with lots of luxury features – including silver reflective mirror coated lenses. A scholarly shape, Mutato is created – interestingly- in Beryllium metal, with a stainless steel chrome finish. It’s light, strong (six times stronger that steel) and resistant to tarnish and corrosion, as well as offering a unique bright greyish-tone surface shine. Piedade

Paulino Spectacles

A classic from the Portuguese label, Piedade is, like all the styles in this line, named after designer Ramiro Paulino’s relatives. “I never met her,” he explains, “but as a child I fantasized that grandmother “Piedade” would have been a bullfighter, inspired by the one photo that existed of her, in which she used structured hair and a lace shirt.” This sweet and elegant handmade style is available in four colours including the tinted crystal we highlight here. www.paulinospectacles.com CN
