Paloceras: Pebble Collection SS25

The European eyewear brand, based out of Portugal and Finland, is launching its Pebble Collection in New York this month; two new SS25 silhouettes are premiering with this release

In fashion spheres, Paloceras has been dubbed an exceptional rising force and in the optical world, while early adopters of the bold and stylish inflated forms included a handful of the leading opticians across the globe, at the forefront of eyewear fashion and qualitative design.

Today, they launch two new styles in their Pebble Collection, known for its bold inflated forms and colour innovation. The new Aviator (VX) and Diamond (DX) which join frames like the RX, an oval shape with the distinctive signature style, extend the eye-catching collection with new directions. “The development began not with sketches, but with simulation,” Design Director Alexis Perron-Corriveau explains. “Using digital matter in motion, we watched as geometry settled into place. Not through control, but through release. Shape was found, not forced….”

Paloceras first launched their frames in Europe in 2022. The co-founders, Mika Matikainen and Alexis Perron-Corriveau, who had met a short time previously at one of the world’s most exclusive design schools in Switzerland, founded the brand on finishing their Masters, choosing Lisbon as their  base from which to launch.

The frame features the brand’s DualLayer™ laminated construction, a layering technique which allows the interweaving of two individual pieces of acetate – the model below, DX “diamond” is one of the two new unisex-fit styles, subtly inspired by the cateye

“Some ideas are drawn. Others emerge. The Pebble Collection was never about following tradition. It was about challenging the predictable, embracing discovery, and leaving space for the unexpected. We let the digital world take the first step, not with rigid sketches but with virtual matter in motion, shifting and settling naturally. Using computational simulations and generative design, we watched as forms revealed themselves, not through control but through discovery. Like finding a perfect pebble on the shore. Something already whole. Something that feels meant to be. Then came the hands. Artisans translating discovery into permanence, shaping acetate with precision until it felt inevitable, as if it had always existed. Colour was not just applied but composed, layered through custom lamination to bring depth and contrast. Bold yet natural. Playful yet refined.…” Alexis Perron-Corriveau, Design Director

The second of the brand new styles is based on an aviator concept.  Styled as an oversized statement, it is being released in warm Havana Gold, vivid Velvet Rouge, sophisticated Shadow Black and Babi Cino – a playful baby blue tone; each variation expresses a different character behind the softened geometry and “contrast, tension and rhythm” in the sculptural form.

About Paloceras – Founded in Switzerland with creative roots in Finland and Portugal, Paloceras is an independent eyewear house set up by Alexis Perron-Corriveau, Design Director and Mika Matikainen, Creative Director. As praised by Vogue, Elle, Grazia, and Elite Daily, each Paloceras creation blends digital precision with hand-finished craftsmanship and draws on a rich visual language shaped by nature, memory, and quiet rebellion. Custom-made eyewear: Ateliers Baudin, Paris

Ateliers Baudin was founded in 2016, drawing inspiration from the artisanal know-how of the Jura region. Describing itself as a custom eyewear workshop, the store is located at 38 Rue de Penthièvre in the 8th arrondissement of Paris, where the glasses are made and sold on-site….

Based in the heart of one of Paris’ most lively districts, this small team of eyewear experts offer a service for bespoke handmade eyewear, produced according to each individual’s prescription and distinctive needs, both practical and aesthetic.

United by a passion for custom-made design and craftsmanship, the team is currently led by Mathieu Jacquet, a trained optician, who learnt the art of spectacle-making through an internship alongside ‘Meilleurs Ouvriers’ (MOF) de France in Morez in the Jura. After struggling to find eyewear that he truly liked—both in terms of style and fit for different facial shapes—he decided to create his own frames. At Ateliers Baudin, he welcomes clients to the workshop, conducts eye exams, designs each model, and oversees the entire manufacturing process. Ateliers Baudin – noble materials and a distinctive design style featuring bright yellow lenses

“Our philosophy is to put craftsmanship at the service of excellence—whether optical or aesthetic. Every frame we create must be both technically flawless and visually harmonious. We don’t compromise on comfort or beauty. What inspires us are precise gestures, noble materials, and the belief that a beautiful object can transform a gaze—both literally and figuratively….each face, each morphology, each preference pushes us to create differently. We never quite know how a frame will begin: sometimes it’s a detail in the gaze, a brow shape, or a word exchanged that sparks the idea. It’s this element of the unexpected and the custom-made that makes our work come alive…” Ateliers Baudin artisan team

The designs are produced in fine quality materials and typically cellulose acetate and horn; each sheet is carefully selected for its depth, hue, or transparency. In terms of style, the frames are based on a timeless foundation of curves and proportions, the team explained. “However, each design evolves from the dialogue with the client: depending on their desires and personality,” they added.

According to the makers, their handmade pieces stand out because they have hand-finished volumes, which capture the light. “And the subtle details make all the difference,” they emphasised.  “The craftsmanship is exquisitely precise, with each frame perfectly complementing the contours of the face, as if it were a delicate drawing that naturally integrates, offering an aesthetic extension of the eyewear itself.

Since 2016, Ateliers Baudin has done several product collaborations including special edition buffalo horn sunglasses for the British luxury company, Holland & Holland.
