The US independent brand’s new Active optical frames deliver on comfort and stability for the sports enthusiast. They also offer attractive shapes with a stylish finesse
Article One’s new optical styles in the Active collection tap in to a very special niche: sports eyewear fusing practical details and real design finesse, qualities combined that have long been hard to find. The models were created to extend the same ethos and design of the brand’s already established sports-oriented Active Sun collection. Above: examples of the frames in the Active optical series at Article One – featuring a new material called GKM
A new material called GKM has been used to create the styles, offering excellent properties to create a really light and flexible design; the material is also scratch resistant. The frames feature new nose pads which offer extra grip, whilst also remaining hidden and discreet. Other properties which contribute to the comfort of the design are the spring hinges and engraved ridges on temple tips, a small detail that provides added grip behind the ear.
In this first release of 5 Active 0ptical products, each frame debuts in four distinct colorways ranging from bold greens to unique variations of tortoise and matt navy. A stylistic highlight of the line is the Dunn frame, which pays homage to the aviator shape of the ‘70s (above). The Dayton, Buck and Ward frames offer classic, wearable shapes that are said to be “friendly to every face” while the Juno is characterised by a cat-eye inspired vintage shape.
