Mondelliani for John Robshaw

Textile designer John Robshaw and Roman eyewear producers Mondelliani have got together to produce a series of striking patterned sunglasses, with superb results. The frames are decorated with Robshaw’s distinct exotic textile designs, inspired by the designer’s work and travels across India, Indonesia, and Africa. Mondelliani chooses simple shapes that allow the decorations to speak for themselves. Model Bundi TG is one of our favourites, a split front design with abstract animal print. An alluring, distinguished double bridge characterises HAPTER’S striking sunglass design GO1S from the Prime Line txt1001 Collection. RVS by V.

For 2015, Ella has us falling for acetate adorned with modern metal clips. RVS by V. from Turkey highlights its metal collection this season and combines it perfectly with colourful Mazzucchelli acetate in a totally different approach. “The result is a beautiful harmony of classic gold and silver metals,” explains designer Vidal Erkohen. Keep your eye on this collection for spectacular mirrors combined with classical shapes and luxe finishes such as tortoise and horn. CN

The intricate bevelled frame front is quietly elegant and refined – a gentle jeweller’s touch in which Klemm excels, with her background as a jewellery designer. Tarian +

Parisian eyewear designer Jérémy Tarian conducts Master Classes for selected students at HEAD-Genève (Geneva University of Art and Design/Switzerland). The Workshop’s theme requires students to use acetate as if it were a piece of jewellery to create a frame. Under Jérémy’s wise guidance, the glamorous winning concept was awarded to Camille Dols with Precious, an acetate frame embellished with metal cut-outs that evoke the shape of cut gemstones. There is a Limited Edition of only 75 pieces per colour worldwide. This is Tarian’s first collaboration with HEAD-Genève for Tarian +. JG


Lindberg Strip Range

Lindberg elements of comfort, lightness, and ease of adjustment, now include yet another beautiful visual dimension. 9701 (above) and each frame in the Strip Range series, features lenses that are surrounded by a special acetate inner rim, mounted within the titanium plate of the frame. This provides a subtle interplay between the colours and textures of the inner rim and the outer frame. The lenses seem almost to float within the frame. Wonderfully shiny acetate looks as if it just fell from an apple tree! Theo in Belgium loves to play with the colour palate, and this season the colours are linked to nature’s amazingly exuberant offerings. Samurai – part of the collaboration with Japanese designers Factory 900, is colourfully interpreted in springy apple gree in Japanese acetate. For an optical frame with elegance and chic, Zero 04 is a beautiful example. Smooth black acetate is finely sculpted with a lifted brow, and then majestically accented with a vintage rolled gold brow bar that extends to the sides. Just launched in Paris, this slick modern style from German wood specialists Herrlicht uses not just one but two types of wood side by side. Herrlicht uses very elegant woods such as maple, cherry, oak and plum. Crafted by hand, each frame consists of 100% natural wood created in layers, glued together and pressed into form. Each one is then sanded and cut, resulting in an individual and elegant design. A special hinge system features a four-pronged star; the system ensures that the lenses can be changed easily. CN

The Australian brand will introduce their newest collection in Paris this month, and among the elegant designs is a modern interpretation of the classically refined Windsor trim frame.
