Mitchell

a-morir

Kerin Rose has become one very busy New York designer and her online store is a world of excitement and beauty! I like the neat eye shape and catty elegance of Mitchell, with its joyful orange neon pearls and Swarovski crystal cup chain embellishment. This, like the others by a-morir is a made-to-order piece….from around $350. The chic styling is also available in two other shapes, Redding and Hendrix, with yellow or pink neon trims. All three are investment pieces to delight the eyes and particularly those of the beholder – wild but totally wearable. More please Ms. Rose!

Adventurer Aviator

Silhouette

Made in Austria, Silhouette designs are known for being lightweight and stable. We have been looking at a variety of aviators, one of the lead designs in sunwear for this year, and found this one to be both high-tech – it is made of SPX and titanium – and pleasant to wear in terms of the fit, feel and lightness. I tried it on at Silhouette’s recent brand event in London for the presentation of Titan Icon and featuring inspirational entrepeneur, Jo Malone.

The Adventurer style has barely-there temple ends and fixing system featuring silent bridge plates which can be adapted to any face shape and size, to provide a great fit without leaving marks on pressure points – something I always look for. Available in grey, brown and green, and all colours come in a polarized option. www.silhouette.com  CN

Tyla

Isson Australia

Australian designer Catherine Federici loves avant-garde eyewear, and she possesses a unique talent for creating unorthodox, unique eyewear. Celebrating their 10th anniversary this year, Isson has launched a super collection, including Tyla (above) a dominant sunglass design with a bold square shape, in rich purple gravel acetate. The collection also includes a stunning assortment of ophthalmic designs. www.isson.com JG

Abisko

E&E glasses

E&E glasses are based in Swedish Lapland. This striking aviator frame from their collection, Abisko, is named after a village north of the Arctic Circle, a place that is known for its great location to view the aurora borealis. The cutout on the nose bridge of the style resembles the U-shape of the Lapponian Gate, a striking element of the landscape there and an interesting detail for this optical design which plays on the classic oversized pilot shape. The introduction of the theme of nature in Sweden is understated yet gives a hip look to the frame.

H1021

Heidi London

Heidi Chan judges her collections very carefully and produces strong, vibrant sunglass styles for the fashion pack with some very desirable detailing including pressed flowers in acetate that I hope to show you soon. Heidi has talked to me in detail about the process used to make her designs, and her knowledge and enthusiasm for a craft that runs in her family is impressive. This style (H1021) is a stunner and an easy fix if you want big colour but a feminine take on super bright colour blocking. We think it is a style to lounge about it in by the pool – but it would be perfectly fitting for city wear. Available at Henri Bendel in New York and selected stockists around the world.
