Yachting

Beausoleil Paris

Yachting has all the characteristics of Gatsby days – romantic ports, sunny beaches, and dashing skippers on their yachts. Frédéric Beausoleil has included sophisticated details on this handsome, strong design that include the cut-out on the bridge, and fine ridging on the nosepiece and temples. In addition to this knockout black and chrome colouration (above), Yachting is also available in tortoise and gold. More details at www.beausoleil.fr JG

Cabriolet Coccinelle

Cabrio Eyewear – Hoet Concept

We first featured Cabrio in February this year and it’s an enduring range with an intriguing use of materials that deserves lots of attention! This model, the Coccinelle, the latest edition in the line, is based around the rimless lens, which is curvaceous and enveloping to fully shade the eyes. The frame itself, like those of the whole range is made of a laminated plastic which is creased, folded or manipulated by hand to create a distinctive lightweight sunglass with a sporty design. Two versions available in three colours, the Coccinelle  is out in stores from February. Stockists in the UK include 36 Opticians www.36opticians.co.uk and Schuller Opticians www.schulleropticians.com. For more details go to www.cabrio-eyewear.eu CN

John Varvatos

Music is a passion for Greek-American lifestyle and eyewear designer Varvatos – and especially rock ‘n roll. His love of music inspired him to create these statement sunglasses, complete with a guitar pick. The bold shape is masterfully crafted in black and tortoiseshell polished acetate, with the removable pick on the side. A Limited Edition creation with only 200 frames, these are genuine collectors items. www.eyerespect.com www.johnvarvatos.com  JG

Kismine

Paul Smith Spectacles

Kismine is inspired by style icons of 1960s London (a very, very trendy decade this season). It is an oversized (but not too big) rounded feminine design in acetate, offered in four colours of which this one is the most flashy…but I like the boldness and the graduated effect that we will be seeing a lot more of. For every daywear in the months ahead (sunglasses are actually a must-have in the winter by the way!) it’s a top style. www.paulsmithspectacles.com CN

The Casuarina

Baum Vision

This stunning design by Shane Baum is a classic 1970’s shape in sleek gold plated titanium across the top and temples, and tortoise acetate. Then the wearer is spoilt for choice, with a selection of either diamonds, sapphires, or tigers eye nestled into the temple. With its 70’s demeanour, Ivy League sophistication, and superb shape, these exquisite sunglasses possess an equally exquisite fit. Baum Vision’s eyewear crafting is truly couture, like handcrafted clothes from master designers. www.baumvision.com JG
