Blade 1874

Vanni by Nico Design

Blade is the exclusive new cellulose acetate block devised and produced for the Italian Vanni collection. The material structure is sliced into minute parts and all the two-tone pearly fragments compact together against a transparent or solid underlayer.
A new combination of deep blue and warm grey is on offer, as well as some lovely variants on the lime-green and burnt umber, dusky ruby, and anthracite. Blade frames come in larger shapes that are perfect for progressive lenses. The forms are slightly feminine, with an inner block texture against either a transparent underlayer or a top layer in ‘hip’ tones such as deep blue-turquoise, petroleum-grey, havana, classic black, or bright red. 6000 Series

Vanni by Nico Design

Updated vintage styling, broad straight lines and a rigorous construction are all part of the mix in these new Happy Days frames, by the Italian label Vanni. What is really special here is the precious acetate inlay on the stainless steel fronts. The designs bring speckled Havana together with pearly acetate and fashionable matt metals, for a very artistic effect. There are a variety of specs shapes including unisex styles but I love the modified catseye pictured here. Vanni is the creation of Nico Design, the Turin-based eyewear design company, which is devoted to handcrafted eyewear with exceptional detailing and style. http://vanniocchiali.com www.nicodesign.it CN

Simon

RVS by V.

Model Simon embodies everything I love about the frames by Turkish label RVS by V. Colour is one of their trademarks and they offer unique ideas on colour combos, as this version of Simon clearly illustrates. My current favourites are this trendsetting matt pink with tortoise and the same model in a gorgeously soft yellow with purple temples, both exemplary of the collection in that they move dramatically away from more classic tonal pairings. Typical here is the clever matt finish which is both edgy and extremely soft and comfortable on the skin. To find out more about RVS by V. visit www.rvsbyv.com CN

Natural Eyewear

Hoffmann Natural Eyewear

Buffalo horn is one of the traditional natural materials used in eyewear, considered luxurious, as it is both comfortable on the skin, and unique in its colorations and patterns. This example comes from the experts in horn, Hoffman Natural Eyewear, and is typical of this label’s elegant, understated luxury designs.

Created in Germany using specialised craft techniques, the collection unites three attributes which are essential for a luxury product – a high-quality, natural material; modern, clean design; and attentive finishing.

The design of frames by Hoffmann Natural Eyewear has little in common with the concept of classic horn spectacles. Although created using traditional handcrafting techniques, it reflects both the shapes and colours of modern design. Whether delicate or striking, these natural horn frames are unique. The pleasantly warm surface of natural horn frames provides the owner with a sensual frame-wearing experience. Around 40 individual steps are needed to produce these buffalo horn spectacles.

No two horns are identical, no colour or colour combination exactly the same, so each frame created is an individual, one-off piece. CN
