Face à Face

Mae West was a gutsy gal who always exhibited brash vitality and enthusiasm for life. She would certainly be enthusiastic about these Silmo d’Or nominated sunglasses from Face à Face. West’s emboldened spirit motivated many, including fan Salvador Dali, and he created the well-known Mae West Lips Sofa, the inspiration for these flirty, feminine frames. The artistically crafted, sculptured shape is accented with just a hint of “red lipstick” on the sides to highlight their impertinence.  Mae West would approve! www.faceaface-paris.com JG

The Museum at FIT in New York City

1st October She wears 10-inch heels and doesn’t fall over (impressive!); Tom Ford calls her ‘probably the most stylish woman living’; and as a collector of Couture, she has the best.  Daphne Guinness has worked, and inspired, some of the world’s greatest couturiers, including Karl Lagerfeld and Valentino, and she was privileged to call the late Alexander McQueen a close friend. An exhibition of her fabulous personal couture collection has opened at the Museum of The Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City.

More than 100 garments from her collection (Chanel, Dior, Givenchy) are on view, along with films, videos and some of her extraordinary accessories, from Philip Treacy’s hats to Christian Louboutin shoes. Rancho Deluxe

This one has really caught my attention, it’s a highly accomplished Limited Edition design and we are very excited to have seen it this weekend! Inspired by vintage belt buckles from the Wild West, the textured patterning was hand drawn by designer Jono specifically to create the frame….a crafstman then spent two weeks hand carving the mould for Rancho Deluxe. The label has other textured metal designs as well as this extraordinary example…including “Dragon Lady” which features dragon scales on the edges and temples in turquoise green and “Snake Eyes”, a textured snake skin catseye in matt black with yellow sun lenses (it’s totally awesome if you are into the snake trend). A collection that is a treat for the eyes. In the UK, the Rancho will be available soon from The-I site Optician in Hammersmith (UK) www.thei-site.com CN
