Environmental collab – @searchingforchinook with Sea2see

The sustainable eyewear label Sea2see by François van den Abeele is lending support @searchingforchinook to save the orcas of the Pacific Northwest

The SFC Chinook collection features 5 different styles produced in Sea2see 100% recycled marine plastic. The initiative is focused on supporting @searchingforchinook in documenting the fight for survival of the last 72 Southern resident orcas and inspiring people to take action to prevent their extinction. The project is directed by Game of Thrones actress Maisie Williams (Executive Producer), Alexandra Johnston (Executive Producer/Presenter), and Maria Nangle (Producer). Above: model Alex by Sea2see – the frames are made from recovered marine plastic. Sea2see has created its own program to collect the waste plastic from the marine environment in Europe and Africa and recycle it into raw UPSEA™ PLAST pellets which can then be turned into new colourful eyewear designs.

Cool glasses for all face shapes: Morel 80002A sunnies

Multi-sided shapes have been increasing across product lines – the versatility of the styles for different face shapes and their stylish look which balances classic with quirky is great for men and women alike. The latest style in this genre at the French eyewear company Morel is an example of a look that gives a nod to the 1990s, minimal and well-proportioned (not oversize) with a slightly elongated octagonal eye shape and a UV protective lens – in a range of colours for all tastes – black, emerald green and pink. The frame comes from the Azur collection – a dedicated sunglass line which balances tradition and know-how with some notable technical attributes including 100% polarized lenses (by Italy’s Divel Italia) with an internal anti-reflection coating – available on all men’s and women’s models in the line for the current season. Komono flagship in Antwerp

The Belgian watches and eyewear brand has new opened its new architect-designed flagship store in the heart of its home town of Antwerp. The design is by Berlin-based architectural studio AAS Gonzalez Haase. Keeping the interplay between light and architecture at the forefront of their designs, AAS have gained an established reputation for their innovative spatial concepts. Their work includes major artwork installations, luxury retail interiors, residential extensions and conversions for industrial and art-related spaces. Some of their best noted works include the Marta Herford Museum, the redesign of the Balenciaga stores and the Andreas Murkudis Berlin store.

For KOMONO in Antwerp, AAS emphasised their spatial language by creating a clear gallery in which the eyewear, watches and related product takes centre stage. A reduced palette of materials combined with smart use of space focuses on transmitting the light and creates an airy visual effect. From translucent to opalescent, the materials are assembled in simple and repetitive display shapes to avoid any unnecessary details. Large mirrors are separated from the main displays and convert into the large glass windows so that light naturally flows into the space and is diffracted among the displays. Bright horizontally placed ceiling lights accentuate the goods presented and further enhance this concept of spaciousness.

Sunglasses Edition: SALT. Optics x A’maree’s

Californian luxury concept store partners with SALT. in exceptional sunglasses edition

The new capsule collection produced in a collaboration between the concept store and the Californian eyewear brand is one of the most beautiful eyewear collaborations to launch in 2020, with three sophisticated and timeless designs that pay homage to iconic sunglasses of the past. Above and below: The Trois, the round titanium rimmed silhouette in the trio of new designs in the exclusive collaboration. The Trois – with design elements that evoke the mid-century modern style of the A’maree’s store, is available in black, honey gold, rose gold or traditional silver. The campaign for the collection was shot at A’maree’s in Newport Beach, a distinctive architectural landmark dating back to the 1960s.

SALT. x A’Maree’s / The Deux – the 1950s inspired cat’s eye style in the trio of new designs

The Deux is based on a cateye frame shape with a glamorous fairly oversized silhouette based on the iconic styles worn by Grace Kelly and Audrey Hepburn. This design is available in antique rose, A’maree’s signature white, black or toasted coffee.

SALT. x A’Maree’s / The Un – toasted coffee tone with pale green G-15 lens

Inspired by the wayfarer of the 1950s, The Un continues an eyewear tradition that has been a staple through the decades. A functional riveted plaque subtly evokes the styling of the era, while the specific sizing allows for a unisex fit. Colours include antique rose, black, indigo blue or toasted coffee.

All styles in the line are produced to the highest quality in Japan and feature premium materials, Japanese components and polarised lenses with backside A/R coating.
